Ferdinand Berthoud presents the new version of its Remontoir d’Égalité with an open-worked dial, the Chronomètre FB RES.

Today we have the pleasure of going behind the scene of the new FB2 by Ferdinand Berthoud, a timepiece selected in the final round of the 2020 GPHG in the chronometry category and you will rapidly understand why in this video. For instance and for the very first time in a timepiece you will find the combination of a "fusée chaine" mechanism and a "remontoir d’égalité” resulting in surprising performances, but the path to achieve this was obviously a complicated one.

n today’s video we compare two different approaches illustrating the constant force mechanism and we not only do so with our good friend Peter Speake but with two great timepieces coming from Ferdinand Berthoud and the second one from Arnold & Son. Peter comes back on what is constant force and details with us how it has been expressed differently on these two timepieces.

What a historic crazy moment we just lived with the shattering record just set for a wrist watch: 31 Million Swiss Francs for the one and only steel Grand Master Chime from Patek Philippe. A record sending a clear message that Patek is in a league of their own and nothing, absolutely nothing comes close to it!!

Results of the GPHG, the main awards ceremony of the watchmaking industry, which just took place in Geneva and celebrated 14 different watches in just as many categories, plus the watch judged best of the best of 2019.
