Measuring 1/100th of a second with the Defy El Primero 21 by Zenith Watches

We took the opportunity of the presentation of the newly appointed CEO of Zenith Watches in Le Locle, Mr Julien Tornare to not only meet him, but also to go a bit further behind the new El Primero 21 movement. This last one consists of a "classic" version of this legendary movement, coupled with an incredible 50Hz chronograph allowing to measure the 1/100th of a second, something seen a few years ago with a concept watch demonstrated by TAG Heuer.

We know that to mechanically measure such a short period of time doesn't really make much sense, but that doesn't matter! The technical achievement is still remarkable and this is what we salute with such a development for a brand first and foremost known for its technical expertise, innovation and manufacturing capabilities.

But the good news didn't stop there for Zenith as we got to have a sneak preview on Mr Jean-Claude Biver's wrist of a revolutionary watch that the brand will soon uncover. This radically new approach to movement architecture comes from the world of mathematics and appears to shake everything we have seen so far in horology. We can't wait to learn some more and naturally share this with all of you.
