Participate at the Ultimate Watchmaking Roadtrip with TheWATCHES.tv

Following our recent announcement in the latest edition of PRIMETIME, we’ve received quite a lot of feedback regarding our Watchmaking Roadtrip project and some questions too. Reason why we’ve decided to come back on it and give you some additional details; what it’s all about and very importantly how to participate.

We’ve already received some nice candidacies, but to make this as fair and as clear to everyone as possible, we’re quickly going to summarise this really exciting project in the above video.

Our goal is to have between 4 and 6 people participate in Switzerland and in early July of this year at what we’ve called the “Ultimate Watchmaking Roadtrip". Together we will visit some great places such as manufactures and museums, see some behind the scenes and secret places, share some precious moments and meet some inspiring people and ultimately have a great and fun time together.

This journey will be intense and will take place over a over 5-day period during the first week of July, but for the selected participants it will be necessary to be in Geneva on Sunday the 3rd of July and you can return to your various homes on Saturday the 9th.

Naturally if you want to come sooner or stay longer, you’re very welcome to do so, but a very important point is that you need to come to this meeting point by your own means. We unfortunately can’t take this in charge, but the good news is that once you here, meaning Sunday the 3rd, we’ll take care of everything else; travel, lodging and meals.

So who can participate? Well anyone actually, if you’re a savvy collector or simply someone appreciating the art of watchmaking and want to know more, then this trip is for you. So far we’ve received candidacies from all over the world and from all age groups and our goal is to create a fun group, a nice mix of people that share our enthusiasm for watchmaking.

The next constraint and since we’ll be filming this entire epic journey, we naturally want people that are confortable with the idea of being filmed because our objective is to relate this adventure back to you during the second semester of this year with weekly episodes.

And now to how to participate? Since this is a visual thing, we ask you to send us a short video of yourself, 2 minutes is fine and tell us who you are, age, current job/studies and so forth, and most importantly what makes you tick in watchmaking, how you became hooked and why. You can easily do so with your smart phone, we don’t need cinematographically executed films, even in a selfie mode is fine, but share with us your enthusiasm and motivation. For those of you facing difficulties sending us these fat video files, we suggest you use file transfer system such as Wetransfer, Dropbox or Hightail, or you can use cloud solutions such as iCloud or Google Drive and all these solutions are free.

Please address your candidacy to the following e-mail address: roadtrip@watchestv.com and remember to give us your full contact info too.

In terms of delay, you have until the end of February to send us your candidacies and we want to finalise our selection of participants by mid march. This will then give you plenty of time to take care of travel arrangements and other logistical issues.

You simply can’t imagine how excited we are in putting together this first roadtrip experience with you. We will live some really cool moments together, but naturally we can't talk about the exact program itself, this will remain a surprise until the very end!!!

So don’t hesitate to send us your candidacies and we’ll be in close contact with all of you personally.
