No, Patek Philippe and Rolex aren’t the only cool brands in vintage watches. Other brands and models are also sought-after by watch fans – principally because they remain affordable as compared to the two titans of horology mentioned above. But that is not the only reason: some of them also embody a special moment in the history of the brand or the evolution of watch technology. 

Did you know, for instance, that Longines chronographs from the 1940s are seen as the most qualitative and respectable? The list continues with interesting names such as Breitling, Universal Genève, Movado, Eterna, Nivada, and others. We interviewed experts Aurel Bacs from Bacs & Russo in association with Phillips, Sacha Davidoff from Davidoff Brothers, and Thomas Perazzi, head of the watch department at Christie’s in Geneva. Each of them provided us with opinions, feelings, and tips on what is and what could be the next hot thing in vintage watches.
