The Red Dot Design Award Applied to Watchmaking

The Red Dot design price exists since 1955 and was founded in Germany with the well routed Bauhaus tradition of forms follows function philosophy. This prize is being awarded for many categories. mostly FMCG type of products, such as kitchen utensils, to home appliance equipment, but this year and for the first time a special category dedicated to watchmaking has been created, before it was mixed up with jewellery.

MB&F, the brand that has brought so much and needed audacity in watchmaking participated for the first time too. Without any kind of expectations, they were very happily surprised to win the “best of best” prize in its category with the crazy HM6 Space Pirate… along with Apple and their iWatch!!!! For the little story, the Apple watch is clearly the result of a smart watch design originating from the very early 2000’s, so nothing new really, but as we say it’s the winners that write history!
