Dubaï Watch Week Focuses On Watchmaking Education

For the first Dubai Watch Week, the bar has been set really high in terms message sent out to watch lovers, brands and ultimately to consumers that make this industry succeed. The key message was all about eduction; what is genuine watchmaking all about, what is the role of the watchmaker, as in the people making it in comparaison to industrial processes, how to promote watchmaking transmission of knowledge among many subjects.

This event was organised by Seddiqi & Sons, one the biggest watch retailers in the world, and they put together a very impressive panel of watchmakers, watch experts and industry leaders to address those key issues such as Philippe Dufour, Stephen Forsey, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, Maximilian Busser, Jean-Claude Biver, Giulo Papi, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Pascal Raffy among others.

We were very fortunate to participate in such an event and came out delighted to see that that many players of the industry share the same vision on the importance of educating people to the values of watchmaking. This was absolutely not done in a patronising way, but on the contrary on the sincere involvement and personal implication of the people participating, public included!
