Jacob & Co Double Tourbillon Jean Bugatti & Batman Timepieces

Watches & Wonders 2022

We are lucky that so many things are happening at the same time in Geneva during this crazy watch week. Doesn't make our lives easy, but nevertheless, such a pleasure to witness the creativity that our watchmaker friends are coming with and the new Jean Bugatti timepiece from Jacob & Co is yet another fine example of this!

The development of this timepiece was so complicated that the brand almost wanted to stop at one stage but I am very glad they didn't as it really is very special. I appreciate the fact that they take their Bugatti partnership very seriously and instead of simply adding a logo of the prestigious super car maker, there really is some substance behind this mechanical accomplishment.

I don't recall seeing anything of the like as this watch features a dedicated and very original chronograph function inspired by the speedometer dial that could be found in these historical cars.

The video will make it more justice than my text, as you have a double retrograde system recording passing time. The first hand moves from 0 to 10 seconds before returning back to zero and the second hand will then move to the 10 seconds increment position.

Once you reach 60 seconds, both hands return to zero and you then have a digital display of the minutes found between the two tourbillons which can be seen through some translucent windows.

Yes, it is quite a mechanical feat!! Both tourbillons regulate the hour and minute which can be seen on the periphery of the dial and a third but classical regulating organ beating at 5Hz is exclusively used for the chronograph. But we also got to see in the flesh their new Batman watch as the brand is putting forward another partnership they have with Warner Brothers pictures.

This is also a double tourbillon timepiece, but in this case using the multi-axis version seen in the Twin Turbo and design-wise you will find many references to famous franchise.
