Catching Up With Kari Voutilainen

Watches & Wonders 2022

It's always a pure pleasure to talk with our friend Kari Voutilainen, this time showing us two beautiful watches during the AHCI exhibition in Geneva.

Both unique pieces and most probably already sold but anyway this is not a reason to do not speak about it, and this is our way to see our communication channel.

The first piece is as just mentioned a unique piece. It has a titanium case and an interesting reversed movement.

With other words the bridge side is on dial side and the dial side is somehow on the wrist side. So you can admire balance wheel and many interesting things in front of your watch this including hour and minute hands.

On the back side you have a little second at 12 o'clock and a power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock.

That upside down of second originally at 6 o'clock and power reserve indicator originally at 12 o'clock comes from the fact that the movement was reversed. All this in a 40 millimeters diameter case.

A nice piece to have but only one person will be lucky enough to get it. A second interesting piece presented is as well a unique piece. It is the anniversary model for 20 years of independence of Kari Voutilainen. Its dial is made in silver for the outside part and in 18 carat yellow gold for the central part.

Both are guilloché and the part in 18 carat yellow gold is left without any additional treatment. This is why its shine is very strong and reminds the sun, a link to the way the case was produced.

The case is made in 316L recycled medical steel and it has been melt by the sun power. This case has a 38 millimeters diameter.

A beautiful piece to have that will make one unique person very happy.

Last but not least Kari Voutilainen started 20 years ago as independent alone and 20 years later they are a bit more than 30 persons. He moved few month ago in a new facility which was before the "Restaurant du Chapeau de Napoléon", which means the restaurant of the hat of Napoleon.

Since the mountain seen from Fleurier has the shape of the hat of Napoleon.

We will maybe one day make a new video from there.
