Introducing Antarctique Passage de Drake by Czapek & Cie

New achievements with a new Antarctique Passage de Drake collection.

Following by the success of the Antarctique Terre Adélie earlier this year with a 99 pieces immediately sold out, Czapek continues its achievements with a new Antarctique Passage de Drake collection, named after the English explorer Sir Francis Drake.

“Stairway to Eternity”

This is how this unique and exceptional dial design called and its three-dimensional stamped surface creates a play of shadows across the dial.

“We finally discovered the perfect motif when our designer accidentally enlarged the trapezoids by 50% without realising it, and it looked amazing. That’s the beauty of mistakes!” CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel.

That’s how the signature dial was found!

Classy and elegant 40.5mm and 10,6mm height stainless steel case is adapted to an integrated bracelet, made of brushed and stainless steel as well, which perfectly follows the shape of the case. Sapphire crystal case-back with anti-reflective treatment and the water-resistance of 120 metres makes it a perfect sport watch.

A quick-change system allows each owner quickly switch the bracelet to a rubber or a leather strap, decorated with the same trapezoid pattern as the dial.

In-house automatic movement, calibre SXH5, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has also been improved, which was a real challenge.

The first upgrade starts with the micro-rotor, that was previously in recycled 18-karat gold, now becomes larger and in platinum, but still 100% recycled, which brought 25% more power to the movement.

The second upgrade is a complete change of ball bearings under the micro-rotor. Both upgrades increased the train efficiency to 90% to fully wind the single barrel and deliver the 60 hours of power reserve.

The price for all models of Passage de Drake available in is CHF 18,400 EUR 17,000 and USD 20,00 in retail.
