PRIMETIME – January 2016 – Watchmaking in the News & Major Announcement

January is always a very busy month in watchmaking and sets the tone for the the year to come. The big event is the Geneva Watch Week where the main highlight is the SIHH, but most brands are present one way or another during this crazy week, and for the first time the SIHH hosted a dedicated space for some of the independent watchmakers that we love so much.

In this edition, we also talk about the general business news with Swiss export figures that for the first time are gently decreasing, -3%, but after an uninterrupted growth since 2002 it just probably reached the end of a cycle and it will be interesting to see how brands adapt to this new environment.

But the BIG NEWS for us is that we want to organise the Ultimate Watchmaking Roadtrip with you! We are looking for 4 to 6 people to join us in early July for a full week of crazy watchmaking experience. We will take you to some manufacture visits, encounter master watchmakers, participate in watchmaking classes, visit incredible museums and ultimately have fun together!!! This is going to be rather intense, at least two different activities per day and we will naturally film the entire trip but in a cool and casual way.

So if you are interested, simply send us a short video about yourself, tell us who you are, what you like, but this trip is really open to anyone that loves watchmaking. You don't have to be a serious collector or complete watch geek to participate, we want this to be a real sharing experience and hopefully we could have people from the USA, Japan, Russia...

The only little constraint is that you will have to pay for your own trip to Geneva, but then we'll take it from there on!!! This experience is going to be something really cool, fun, interesting, never done obviously, and we are extremely excited of getting to know in person some of the people watching us.

The exact dates will depend on the different agendas of everybody, but we are looking for the first or second week of July 2016. You will need to arrive on the weekend in Geneva and the actual trip will be from Monday till Friday fo that week.

So now it's up to you to make it happen and please send us your video and other informations at the following e-mail address: roadtrip@watchestv.com.
