The Secrets Of The Bovet Amadeo Virtuoso II Movement
The Virtuoso II movement is the first in-house, base caliber from Bovet. It took eight years to attain the final version, which boasts some unique special features: for instance, its power reserve surpasses the norm with its seven-day power supply. And it includes a coaxial second hand that makes its revolutions clockwise on both the top and bottom of the movement so that it displays from both sides of the reversible watch. In this video, Pascal Raffy, owner of the brand, comments the context in which the Virtuoso II was developed and why Bovet needed it.
Like for many independent brands, developing a base movement (which displays only hours, minutes, and seconds) was necessary to ensure the future of Bovet as movement suppliers will soon stop deliveries to them. Despite being a base movement, the Virtuoso II still retains quite a bit of complexity.
