Blancpain Ocean Commitment And A Limited Batyscaphe

We often think of Blancpain as a traditional watchmaker; yet, it also gained a real and strong recognition in the world of sport watches and diving watches in particular, for they simply invented it some 60 years ago with the Fifty Fathoms. Back in the days, this timepiece was much more than a watch; it was an instrument for divers when diving was only in its early stages of development. In pursuit of this tradition, Blancpain introduced a totally revamped version of that watch for its 60th anniversary at Baselworld 2013, with the very original and pure Batyscaphe model. Today, Blancpain presented a limited version of 250 pieces with its unique and really nice grey ceramic case, which holds the chronograph movement presented earlier this year at Baselworld. Some of the proceeds of this limited edition will directly fund projects supported by the brand, such as the Pristine Sea endeavor in collaboration with National Geographic and the Gambessa expeditions with Laurent Ballesta.
