The evolution of the Gyrotourbillon by Jaeger-LeCoultre

The Gyrotourbillon is one of the most innovative multiaxis tourbillon ever produced. Invented by Jaeger-LeCoultre and exclusive to the brand, shows a revolving sphere inside which stands a two-axis tourbillon escapement. Connected to the movement by a gear train or a ball bearing, it has a super light structure made out of aluminum. The three existing evolutions of the Gyrotourbillon contain each a different hairspring. The first one is flat, the second one cylindrical and the third spherical. Thanks to this construction, the Gyrotourbillon brings to the movement a much higher level of precision. But the most important is that the first iteration was launched 11 years ago, in 2004. At this time, multiaxis tourbillons had never been designed as this one was, and Jaeger-LeCoultre was among the very first established manufacture to introduce such a piece.
